Before Digital
Things were a lot different in 1976, before the amazing WYSIWYG became standard.
A keen eye for copyfitting was required because phototype galleys could not be seen until after they were developed.
We did all the key entry and proofing, paste-up with wax, cut masks out of rubylith and ruled forms by hand.
Logos and half-tones were reproduced on the large format PMT camera. These were also developed and waxed before being added to a layout.
I did it all. A solid platform for inspired solutions was built from these early trade shop years. |
